Ponca City Post Office and Federal Building Window Rehabilitation

The United States Postal Service was in need of assistance in facilitating an upgrade and repair to their original historic windows at the United States Federal Building in Ponca City, Oklahoma. In 2006, the project goal was to retain and repair the original windows and decorative surrounds. This option was only feasible for a select number of original units. In 2012, GH2 again worked with USPS to develop an additional alternative that would meet more strict budgetary requirements while being sensitive to the original design of the windows and openings. The new design replaces deteriorated windows with new aluminum frame, insulated double pane window systems. The new windows will match the frame profile and original color of the historic units and will provide upgraded thermal properties. GH2 worked closely with local preservation groups and the State of Oklahoma Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) on approvals for the project.
