Pottawatomie County Courthouse
The Pottawatomie County Courthouse in Shawnee, Oklahoma, originally constructed in 1934, underwent a phased, partial rehabilitation. GH2 worked closely with the construction manager and County Representatives to develop a phasing plan and individual bid/work packages for the project. The project scope included exterior stone masonry repair, exterior window replacement, roof system replacement and a complete HVAC system replacement. The rehabilitation was designed to minimize the impact to the existing fabric of this historically significant courthouse while providing a much-needed stabilization and performance upgrade of the building systems and building envelope. A new heat pump system was utilized for the new air conditioning system to provide enhanced occupant comfort and
local temperature control without large ductwork and equipment. The project also included minor interior renovations and upgrades to the building fire alarm system. The project was undertaken in individual phases and completed while the courthouse remained in continuous operation for the citizens of Pottawatomie County. The Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
