Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department (OTRD) – Roman Nose State Park

INDIAN HEAD MONUMENT SIGNAGE | Originally completed in 1942 by California Civil Engineer and Landscape
Architect Gordon F. Janecek, the entry monument was erected in conjunction with the swimming pool and additional natural rock structures in the park. Mr. Janecek personally constructed portions of the monument, including welding of the steel. The monument is concrete cast around steel framework that is exposed accentuating the major profile lines as an artistic affect. The monument sets on a stone base and is flanked by stone retaining walls on both sided of the structure. The monument sign stabilization efforts include replacement of the stucco coating system, concrete crack repair, metal band repair, stone replacement and mortar re-pointing. The project is currently under construction and is forecasted to be completed this fall.

BATH HOUSE | An initial building report was created to document and assess the existing bathhouse. The report
included a full evaluation, structural stability report, recommendations for stabilization and cost estimates. Based on this report, they created schematic design floor plan concepts to renovate the bath house. As requested by OTRD, an alternate option was created to re-purpose the pool and bath house into a public venue.

POOL | The current pool has major issues with loosing water and the OTRD was suspicious that it was due to an
underground cavern. They determined that the best course of action was to bring on a consultant to perform ground penetrating radar testing and physical exploration to help determine any underground anomalies or voids.
