Metro Christian Academy – Patriot Stadium
Conversion of Patriot Stadium’s field from natural grass to synthetic turf was a momentous improvement for the Metro Christian community made possible by the school’s largest-ever donation. The surface change was impactful on many levels, including campus beautification and reduced maintenance time and cost. But most significantly, it allowed Metro to engage a large piece of their real estate year-round instead of restricting field play to games in order to protect the natural grass.
GH2 worked closely with the Metro to generate more than 15 design options for review. We synthesized the final design based on the school’s preferences from each concept. After considerable research, Metro ultimately selected a product relatively new to the athletic field marketplace, SportsGrass by ForeverLawn, for its ability to play more similarly to a high-quality natural Bermudagrass field.
Additional improvements to utilities, video board, and press box were all underway concurrently and condensed to a summer schedule that endured a 100-year flood event. Our scope of work included the development of product selection criteria, technical specifications, bid proposal review, and construction administration services.
