Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma (CRSOK) CALM Center
As a result of our previous experience with children’s crisis centers in Tulsa, such as the Tulsa Boys’ Home, GH2 Architects was selected by Counseling & Recovery Services of Oklahoma to audit the condition of the existing site facility of the CALM (Child and Adolescent Life Management) Center. This outstanding nonprofit organization provides immediate support for youth and families in an emotional, behavioral or substance abuse crisis. The center is a safe and caring place for children and adolescents, ages 10-17, in need of immediate stabilization with no out-of-pocket expenses for families.
GH2 met with focus groups to establish the scope of improvements and created collateral material for fundraising for the two-phase approach. Phase I of the master plan for a renovation of the entire facility included an expansion to the building, a new entry, a new lobby, a conference room and offices; it also addressed ADA accessibility issues. Phase II included renovations of the remaining interior space, addressing interior finishes, mechanical systems, lighting and exterior building envelope improvements. These renovations all enhance the energy efficiency of the facility in order to reduce operating costs.
Once CRS Oklahoma received our final deliverables, they were so thrilled with our work that they had us submit a proposal for similar scope of services on their main facility.
