Tulsa4Tesla Campaign

In the summer of 2020, automotive maker Tesla announced either Tulsa, Oklahoma, or Austin, Texas, would be the site of their relocated manufacturing facility. Led by high-ranking state and local officials and a prominent local nonprofit, GH2 Architects was part of a team that provided Tesla with a detailed site analysis and structure concepts for a potential Tesla Tulsa Gigafactory.

The team designed renderings and maps showing the convenience of the proposed site and its proximity to transportation and downtown Tulsa. The 2.25 million square-foot site had available access to all necessary utilities of power, water, natural gas, sanitary sewer and stormwater.

The team proposed a design-build process using tilt-up durable concrete panels to speed construction and achieve an aggressive delivery date. The concepts incorporated natural and site-specific sustainability elements aligned with Tesla’s energy model.
