City of Lawton Animal Shelter

The City of Lawton partnered with GH2 to conduct a comprehensive assessment of its existing facility and to define a clear vision for future needs. Through a collaborative and data-driven process, GH2 worked closely with City stakeholders to evaluate potential sites for a new Adoption Center, carefully considering key criteria such as visibility, public accessibility, outdoor amenities, neighborhood context, utility infrastructure, and zoning requirements.
Building upon these insights, the team developed design concepts that significantly expand operational capacity while enhancing functionality and user experience. The new facility will include thoughtfully organized, purpose-driven spaces for intake, isolation, veterinary clinic services, adoptions, and community outreach—supporting both animal welfare and public engagement goals.
Construction on the new facility officially broke ground in March and is now well underway, with the project currently in full construction. Completion is anticipated in spring 2027.
