Change is a part of the growth process. And as GH2 pushes forward, we are honored to have Terry Maytum step into a new role as Principal effective January 1, 2021. We are thrilled he will lead GH2 OKC and its growth.
After receiving a degree in architecture at Oklahoma State University, Terry has attained more than 20 years of experience that spans across the nation. His adaptability, responsiveness and attentiveness to design concepts uniquely fitted to each client's need has built long-lasting client relationships.
Terry currently oversees several significant client developments including education, casinos, retail, healthcare, municipal, religious and recreation project types. Terry's high-profile projects include multiple new schools for Muskogee and Broken Arrow Public Schools, multiple projects for Tulsa Community College, as well as numerous projects for Mustang Public Schools.
His projects have received multiple design awards and in 2016, Terry took on the responsibility of reestablishing GH2 Oklahoma City, where we began in 1973.
Sara Andrews, Associate Principal, works closely with Terry daily, and upon his promotion, notes, "He is a great leader and mentor, and we're fortunate to have him as a leader."
She continues, "His creativity is endless, and he inspires all of us to be better architects and designers. He sets an excellent example and is always willing to provide imaginative solutions to any problem. Our clients truly appreciate him because he always goes above and beyond. He is truly passionate about exceptional client service, and it shows in all aspects of his work."
An essential part of being a successful leader at GH2 mainly entails building and growing strong, trusting relationships with our clients.
Associate Principal, Nicole Shay, believes Terry is the best of the best when it comes to client service, expressing, "Terry has a way with clients that people can't replicate. His sense of humor combined with design skills and complete dedication is an integral part of why our firm is successful. Nothing is impossible in his mind, and he proves it constantly."
"He lives our motto Design, Service, and Solutions in everything he does. He's taken the time to teach, listen and mentor me without hesitation and is willing to help whenever needed, which is something I am truly grateful for," Nicole concludes.
Being a great leader requires wearing many skills – but possibly the most important is having the nuance to drive change in the right direction while ensuring your people feel good about the changes.
When reflecting over his first full year as a senior architect at GH2, Aaron Pilat states, "Something that has stood out about Terry specifically is how gracious and humble he is. These are leadership traits that create a very motivating work environment, even in the toughest, busiest most stressful of times."
For this and many more reasons, we are honored to announce Terry's promotion to Principal and are confident he will continue to steer GH2 and our wonderful clients in the right direction!
